James Raymond
Composer/Songwriter
An accomplished songwriter and composer, James was Musical Director for the hit Nickelodeon series 'Roundhouse' for all three successful seasons, writing an original song for each episode, and receiving two nominations for a
Cable Ace Award.
James has written and produced for numerous projects, including three television spots for the prestigious New York ad agency Satchii & Satchii as well as three national AT&T spots. Television arrangements include work for CBS's, 'The Client' and "L.A. Doctors", additional music for 1997 Warner Brothers pilot 'Justice League of America' and HBO's 'The Sender'.
In the spring of 1998, he scored the CBS pilot, 'To Have and To Hold', which landed him the series. James scored the second season of the WB series, 'Jack & Jill' and produced the main title theme. Most recently, James was hired to score the new drama 'Side Order Of Life' which premiered July '07 on the Lifetime Network.
An adopted child, James' parents were keen to pick up on his musical gift
early in life. He started studying piano at the age of six and was playing in rock
and R&B bands by his early teens. In 1995 James learned what to attribute
some of that talent to, when he was reunited with his birth father David Crosby.
In June of 1998 the self-titled debut album from CPR (Crosby, Pevar & Ray-
mond) was released on Samson Music. The band has performed on The Tonight
Show, appeared on Oprah, and was invited to perform at the internationally re-
nowned Montreaux Jazz Festival. CPR's second studio record, 'Just Like Grav-
ity' was released in June 2001. In addition to producing and writing for new pro-
jects, James tours occasionally with David Crosby, Crosby/Nash and CSN.

This is a rough mix from the forthcoming 'Toda a Beleza' EP. The EP is being mixed and mastered this week so the final version will be available as a free download very soon.
'Great Lengths' main title
I was asked to score a wonderful short film by a talented young filmmaker, Dara Resnick. Dara just graduated from USC film school and 'Great Lengths' played at several film festivals and won some awards as well. I wrote this piece after reading her script.
'Santa Ana's'
This is a strange demo cue I did awhile back. The winds kicked up and I put a microphone outside and improvised a string piece to try and capture the vibe. Check out my dog doing a run-by at 0:40!
'Buena'
This is a faux Cuban piece I wrote as a cue for a show. I was trying to match the room sound of the 'Buena Vista Social Club' studio in Havana...
'Lay Me Down'
This song just kind of came pouring out one day. I love when that happens! The lyrics and music came simultaneously for the most part and Graham helped me with the middle verse. The opening line about driving out through the windmills is an idea I had kicking around for a while. (Stacia and I like to get away to the desert sometimes and that's where the windmills are.)
'American Ghost Town' - demo
This tune I wrote after seeing a homeless guy at my on-ramp for three years straight. He's still there unfortunately... I guess I wanted to give him a back-story or something and the song came out of that. We played this tune on the last CPR tour. The guitars/ bass are fake keyboard parts and the drums are programmed- (pretty obvious). I'm not sure what will happen with it. I do know that I need Stevie D. to put some real drums on...
'Crossed Up' from 'Jack & Jill'
I scored the second season of the WB show Jack & Jill and this was a cue that I liked.
'Hot House Cue'
A few years ago I scored a CBS show called To Have & To Hold. The producer, Scott Shepherd let me try all kinds of crazy #@%*...
My homie Shawn Tubbs and I are really into Django Reindhart and I knew he could shred on that stuff so I wrote this piece for him to play. Strangely enough it fit the scene.
